I’m pleased to share Living on the Edge, my debut solo photography exhibition, opening this October at YMa, Pontypridd, Wales. The exhibition is presented as part of Ffoto Cymru 2026, Wales’ international festival of photography, bringing the work to audiences as part of the festival’s programme.

Bringing together work made across Nigeria and The Gambia, the exhibition explores how communities are living with environmental change and responding to its effects. Through four interconnected photographic series, Living on the Edge examines the relationships between forests, food production, mining, and rising salinity, revealing how environmental change creates a chain of consequences that extends beyond individual landscapes. Rather than presenting these stories as isolated issues, the exhibition considers them as connected experiences. It invites visitors to reflect on the ways people adapt, endure, and continue to build their lives in environments that are constantly changing.

Living on the Edge consists of four photographic series that together form a visual journey through interconnected environmental stories.

Sow. Hoe. Grow. explores home gardening as both a means of survival and an act of resilience, while raising questions about the pressure placed on forests as communities expand agricultural land.

Live and Let Live examines the effects of deforestation, documenting landscapes where biodiversity is disappearing as forests are cleared for cultivation and development.

Ground Without Rest turns to the environmental impact of mining, exploring landscapes reshaped by extraction and the lasting marks left on both the land and the communities around it.

The final chapter, Vanishing Fields, documents rice-growing communities confronting saltwater intrusion, where changing environmental conditions threaten agricultural livelihoods and food security.

Together, these four bodies of work reveal that environmental change rarely occurs in isolation. Each landscape is connected to another, forming a continuous story about people, place, and adaptation.
