BUKUNMI OYEWOLE
Bukunmi Oyewole is a travel and documentary photographer whose works primarily spotlights present day realities in Africa, so that future generations can experience Africa through his pictures. Also, his work explores the themes that revolve around climate change, using his art to bring attention to climate change issues and to create awareness and engagement with the public about the impacts of climate change.
His passion for photography and striking pictorial skills earned him a feature on six editions of Blueprint Magazine, two editions of The Agbowo Magazine, three editions of Ake Review, Foxhole Magazine, Penumbra, Turnpike magazine, Fortunate Traveller, Isele Magazine, Center for Railroad Photography & Art’s book, “Continuity & Change: The Lure of North American Railroads”, and a host of others.

He is also a member of the African Photojournalism Database (APJD), a project of the World Press Photo Foundation and Everyday Africa. He is a 2021 creative fellow alumni at Amplify HQ, a COVID HQ Africa project. He was a recipient of Lakehead Arts Integrated Research Awards 2022 from Lakehead University, an award granted to artists for exemplary art as research and art as education. He is a fellow alumni at Africa24Media Storytelling Fellowship 2022. He was a recipient of the RCE Recognition Award for Acknowledged Artwork, for the 2022 RCE Youth Biodiversity Art Challenge conducted by the Global RCE Service Centre at the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability in partnership with UNESCO. He was a recipient of a recognition award from Wikimedia Nigeria for commitment as a member of the jury team for the Wiki Loves Monuments in Nigeria 2023.
